This 100% all metal Z axis bearing kit is designed to help stabilize the extended Z axis rods on the RailCore II ZLT in high-temperature printing environments

There are 2 versions of this kit:

  •         Standard configuration
  •         Flipped Z axis yoke configuration

Please see below for the details of each configuration and purchase according to your printer configuration.

All pieces are made out of high strength 7075 T6 aluminum and the kit includes all needed screws and bearings.  We have leveraged the properties of 7075 aluminum to allow us to more freedom in the design aesthetic while still maintaining the needed strength in our parts.

This kit contains 2 key components; the Z axis bearing risers (with included axial bearings) and the thrust bearing plate kit (with included thrust bearings).  Note: the RailCore thrust bearing kit is also sold separately here.

  • Z axis bearing risers  (please choose your configuration)
    • Standard configuration

The Z axis bearing risers are each milled from a solid piece of 7075 aluminum for strength and convenience of installation. Each riser has a milled bearing pocket featuring a recess on the bottom face that prevents the (included) 608 ZZ axial bearing inner race from rubbing on the pocket face.  Each bearing comes pre-installed (a press fit) into the pocket of the bearing risers, however the bearings can be easily removed if necessary.  Each riser will allow a motor coupler maximum size of 30mm in height and 25mm in diameter.  For a small extra fee, we can customize the height if needed.  Please contact us, prior to purchasing for this option.  This piece was designed to be as low profile as possible and there is a loss of approximately only 27mm of Z height, when in use.

 

    • Flipped Z axis yoke configuration

The difference for the flipped yoke configuration is that the bearing riser has only 3 legs instead of 4.  By removing the 4th leg of the riser, the side of the flipped Z axis yoke is free to move below the height of the bearing riser.   For comparison, when using a standard 4 legged bearing riser with a flipped yoke the Z height loss is approximately 27mm.  The 3 legged bearing riser configuration allows for an additional 15mm of Z axis travel.  This results in a total loss of Z height of only 12mm.

Since the bearing riser is made from high strength 7075 aluminum, altering the part to remove a leg does not diminish the functionality or strength of the part.  Also for this configuration, the number and sizes of the included screws are adjusted accordingly to account for the modified leg configuration of the bearing riser.  The thrust bearing plate kit is unchanged however we do include extra (16mm) screws to ensure that all 4 mounting points are attached.

  • Thrust bearing plate kit

These thrust bearing plates are designed to disperse the Z-axis assembly weight away from your motor.  Relieving weight from the motor can prolong the motor life and allow for a more accurate motor movements.  Each plate is designed so that the included, all metal, thrust bearings sit inside a recessed pocket.  The top surface of the bearing assembly sits slightly above the recess by 0.5mm and allows the shaft coupler to rotate freely atop the bearing without touching or rubbing the thrust bearing mounting plate.  This 100% all metal solution is ideal for use in high-temperature printing environments.

The thrust bearing plates are very low profile and are designed to fit all standard NEMA 17 mounting points and mount seamlessly to the stock RailCore baseplate and the 713Maker.com 6mm baseplate, however they are not compatible with 3mm baseplates. They are designed to work with NEMA 17 steppers with a 5mm wide shaft with a shaft length of between 17mm-20mm long (tested with Railcore stock LDO-42STH40-1684MAC motors) and motor couplings with no less than 12mm of shaft recess.

Flipped yoke configuration kit includes:

x3 608ZZ axial bearings (pre-installed into the bearing risers)

x3 sets of all metal thrust bearings

x9 M3 50mm mounting screws (socket button head)

x4 M3 16mmmounting screws (socket button head)

Please note:  This kit is not compatible with 3mm baseplates.

As with all of our products, minor tooling marks may be present.
