This is our thinner, more budget-minded, version of the full metal frame kit for the RailCore 300ZL printer.  The differences between this kit and the RailCore II 300ZL full metal kit (6 mm) are:

This kit consists of 9 individual metal pieces. All pieces are milled from 6061 aluminum plate to replace all the structural HDPE panels of the printer.  The kit includes 4 side plates, a baseplate**, and 4 plates for the electronics box (cover not included, but available as a customization).  Each panel size has been adjusted to ensure a proper fit and to accommodate all accessories (i.e. stepper mounts, idler mounts, halos, etc).  All pieces in this kit are made from 3mm (1/8in) thick aluminum stock.

**The baseplate is included in this kit unless you specify otherwise..  If you have already purchased a metal baseplate separately, please choose the "No Baseplate" option above.  Choosing the "No Baseplate" option will reduce the cost of the kit by $25.

To help keep costs low, all the metal pieces in this kit are not surface finished in any way.  They will be the raw, from the factory finish, so there may be scratches and marks and potentially the ghost of a logo present.  This raw finish allows you to choose any surfacing that you may wish to apply yourself.  The raw finish should not be expected to be "presentation ready". For a those who wish, we also offer our signature striped finish or powder coating finishing, for an additional charge.

The optional stripe brushed/polished finish produces a uniquely dimensional look. This allows the shiny edges of the accent chamfers to really pop on the plates.  This finish is present on both the inner and outer faces of each panel.  For the optional powder coating finishing, you may choose from satin white or satin black.  The satin finish is a nice blend of a mild shine and matte surface that provides a high resistance to fingerprinting and scratching. If you would like the powder coating finish option, please add the Railcore II - powder coating item, with the full metal kit option, to your cart at the time of kit purchase.

We CNC mill all of our metal products in house, which enables us to offer low cost/high quality products with shiny, chamfered/deburred edges. A full metal kit provides an advantage over HDPE by increasing the overall rigidity and heat resistance (for heated enclosures).  Full metal kits also provide an advantage over acrylic panels, by providing a resistance of impacts to panels and it will not crack by inadvertently over-tightening screws.  Our full metal kit also eliminates the dull, rough, or sharp edges that some water jet or laser cut production methods may produce.  

Each of our full metal kits provide these advantages but only our 6mm thickness full metal kit, available here, can also help provide reduced vibrations due to the increased mass.  

We have upgraded each metal side panel with slotted through holes that also allow slight adjustments of the panels to insure a perfect fit every time. We have upgraded the baseplate with slotted through holes that also allow slight adjustments to insure a perfect fit every time. The baseplate also has slotted stepper mounting holes that allow greater adjustment of the Z axis steppers mounting in the X direction and better alignment of each stepper on the Z axis.  The front plate of this 3mm kit has pass through holes for mounting the doors of your choice. The left side electronics box panel features an additional M3 hole, near the power inlet, specifically for grounding.

If you self-sourced your Railcore, please contact us as some aspects of the kit may need adjustment to fit your power switch, power source and the like. We are not responsible for parts outside of the Filastruder kit not fitting if you fail to contact us for adjustments.
