This part is made out of high strength 7075 T6 aluminum and is designed for the ZL / T series of the RailCore II printers with a focus on versatility, usability, and strength.
This full metal part allows for hands-free, automatic docking and undocking of your Euclid probe (click here to add the probe to your order) and safe, convenient, storage, when not in use.
This dock is designed to be placed within the movement envelop (but outside of the print volume) of your printer. This dock allows your Euclid probe to slide precisely into an insulated middle pocket; entering from the end of the dock. Once the printer head has moved away (swiped to the side) from the dock, the Euclid probe's magnetic halves are separated by this motion and the bottom half of the probe falls snugly into a slightly deeper recessed and insulated pocket within the dock. The fully insulated dock not only ensures that your probe is stowed safely out of the way but also that your probe and controller are fully protected from any stray voltage that may be present (during initial dock height adjustments and actual docking/undocking movements). When you are ready to use your Euclid probe again, simply move over the dock (from the side) and the probe pieces will come together magnetically and then move to easily slide the probe out of the dock end, and you are ready to use your probe again. The docking motion of the print head assembly is an upside down "L" motion which is simply reversed (in X and Y directions) to undock.
Due to the small screws and aerospace adhesive needed to bond the dissimilar materials of the metal and the insulation, the dock itself will come fully assembled.
This kit comes with 2 pieces of (Misumi brand) 1515 extrusion (approx 50mm each) with each end tapped to M3, 2 full metal custom mounting pieces, and all the necessary hardware to mount them. The unique custom metal mounting pieces and included pieces of 1515 extrusion allow for maximum flexibility in X, Y and Z axis, for ease of placement within your printer.
The "T" shaped mounting piece is designed to attach directly to the printer frame, on either a vertical or horizontal frame member, with the included screws and included 713Maker post assembly 1515 T-nuts (additional 1515 post assembly T-nuts sold here and here), and there is no need to disassemble your printer to add this dock. The "T" shaped piece connects to the printer frame, using the 2 outside pass through holes (and the included 713maker 1515 post assembly T-nuts), and to one of the included 1515 extrusion pieces using the center pass through hole (and included low profile screw). The connection via the center hole can be either to the side face of the 1515 or via a tapped end cap. Once the "T" piece is connected as desired, to your printer frame and one of the 1515 extrusion pieces, the "H" piece can be added to the assembly. The "H" shaped piece has also been designed with maximum versatility in mind, as it can provide a connection between both of the included 1515 extrusion pieces in several different ways. It has 4 pass through holes (one on each leg of the "H") and one center pass through hole. You would use 2 of the 4 "H" leg holes to attach it to any 1515 side face and/or use the single center hole to attach it to the tapped 1515 end cap. Once all the mounting pieces and the 1515 extrusions have been assembled, the dock itself can be added. Keeping flexibility in mind, the dock itself has also been designed to be able to attach to any 1515 extrusion side face or the end cap, as desired for your needs. The combination of the mounting options provide maximum adjustability in all axes.
Even with all of this adjustability, if you feel that 50mm of 1515 extrusion may not work for your situation, please feel free to contact us, prior to ordering and for a small charge, we can work with you to adjust the 1515 extrusion lengths, as needed.
Please note: We are now offering 2 different versions of T nuts. Our original M2.5 T nut was designed to fit the channel dimensions of the Misumi brand 1515 extrusions. In order to better accommodate the growing variety of 1515 extrusions available, which often have a narrower channel size from the Misumi brand, we are now offering a M2.0 T nut which has an overall narrower form factor and thus is forced to use a slightly smaller M2.0 size screw. To assist with identification, the M2.0 T nut has 2 dots on the flat, top surface of the nut itself, while the M2.5 T nuts are blank.
Please use the following information to determine which T nut fits the 1515 extrusion that you have.
M2.0 T nut (sold here): For use with non-Misumi / imported, black or colored, 1515 extrusion. This extrusion has either 1 or 5 total holes in the ends and a channel size of 3.0mm wide at its narrowest (top) point. This extrusion would have been purchased from Filastruder, Printed Solid, or AliExpress. This T nut also fits the Voron V0 and V0.1 and Makerbeam XL 1515 extrusion frames.
M2.5 T nut (sold here): For use with silver 1515 extrusion. This extrusion has a single, center, hole in the ends and has a channel size of 3.2mm wide at its narrowest (top) point. This extrusion would have been purchased from R3D, Filastruder, or directly from Misumi, and will use these M2.5 T nuts.
If in doubt order the M2.0 T nut, however please feel free to contact us with any T nut sizing questions, prior to ordering. No refunds or exchange for purchases of T nuts that are the wrong size.
