This post-assembly 1515 T nut is uniquely designed to provide an easy way to attach items to the 1515 extrusion of the Railcore printers without requiring any disassembly to add mounting hardware. Sold in sets of 4 T nuts.
This T nut is designed to attach any accessory with a M2.0 screw to your 1515 extrusion. This T nut has a threaded hole for a M2.0 screw (not included). These T nuts are placed onto the screw prior to insertion into the 1515 channel, so there is no longer any hassle with having to blindly align a screw into a nut that is within the narrow extrusion channel.
When this T nut is fully engaged and seated into the 1515 extrusion channel, it measures 3.3mm from the top of the 1515 to the bottom of T nut. In order for the screw to not bottom out into the 1515 channel and for the unique threading resistance to function properly, it is very important that you use the correct screw length. You will need a screw length that is equal to the thickness of the accessory to be mounted + 3.3mm. If your screw length is too long washers can be used to create additional thickness, if needed. Since the thickness of the accessories will vary, and the screw length will need to be adjusted according to that thickness, we do not provide screws with the purchase of these T nuts. We offer M2.0 screws, that can be purchased here.
This T nut is made from 7068 aluminum. 7068 aluminum alloy is one of the strongest commercially available aluminum alloys, with a tensile strength comparable to that of some steels. 7068 has a typical ultimate tensile strength of 710 MPa (103 ksi) versus a similar product produced from 7075-T6511 that would have a typical ultimate tensile strength of 640 MPa (93 ksi), versus 6061 aluminum alloy that has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 290 MPa (42 ksi). Please click here for additional facts about 7068 and here for facts about 6061 aluminum. Even with such impressive tensile strength this 7068 aluminum T nut is not designed to mount load bearing items such as printer lift handles.
You can attach halos, accessories on top of halos, LCD panels, probe docks, purge buckets, or all manner of various accessories. The possibilities are almost endless!
Please note: We are now offering 2 different versions of T nuts. Our original M2.5 T nut was designed to fit the channel dimensions of the Misumi brand 1515 extrusions. In order to better accommodate the growing variety of 1515 extrusions available, which often have a narrower channel size from the Misumi brand, we are now offering a M2.0 T nut which has an overall narrower form factor and thus is forced to use a slightly smaller M2.0 size screw. To assist with identification, the M2.0 T nut has 2 dots on the flat, top surface of the nut itself, while the M2.5 T nuts are blank.
Please use the following information to determine which T nut fits the 1515 extrusion that you have.
M2.0 T nut (this product): For use with non-Misumi / imported, black or colored, 1515 extrusion. This extrusion has either 1 or 5 total holes in the ends and a channel size of 3.0mm wide at its narrowest (top) point. This extrusion would have been purchased from Filastruder, Printed Solid, or AliExpress. This T nut also fits the Voron V0 and V0.1 and Makerbeam XL 1515 extrusion frames.
M2.5 T nut (sold here): For use with silver 1515 extrusion. This extrusion has a single, center, hole in the ends and has a channel size of 3.2mm wide at its narrowest (top) point. This extrusion would have been purchased from R3D, Filastruder, or directly from Misumi, and will use these M2.5 T nuts.
If in doubt order the M2.0 T nut, however please feel free to contact us with any T nut sizing questions, prior to ordering. No refunds or exchange for purchases of T nuts that are the wrong size.
