These parts are made out of high strength 7075 T6 aluminum and are designed for the ZL/T series of the RailCore II printers with a focus on weight reduction and strength.

We know that every gram counts on the moving parts of a core XY printer and we found that we could make our parts even lighter and stronger by switching from 6061 to 7075 aluminum.  With that mind, we have taken this extra step with our 7075 series of parts, to further enhance the performance of your printer.

These full metal X carriages mount the Y axis to the X axis linear guides.  These parts are based on the RailCore open source files here and here yet have been milled out of 7075 aluminum and slightly modified for weight reduction and strength enhancement.  

By utilizing the advantages of high strength 7075 aluminum, we have been able to reduce the weight of the parts while maintaining the same strength as the original parts even with a number of weight reducing pockets and recesses.  Both X carriage mounts together weigh in at only 78 grams and have beautiful shiny faces and sides with chamfered edges.  For comparison, the original X carriage mounts when made out of 6061 are 99 grams.

We have updated the spacers used with these X carriage mounts to utilize widely available standardized pieces.  Instead of a custom milled, round metal spacer these X carriage mounts now use a standard 10-32 square nut (included) and instead of a hand-produced, flat metal spacer we now use a standard M3 washer (included).  This use of standardized and easily attainable pieces, makes the X carriages easy to assemble and relieves the bottleneck caused in production by having to produce small, custom pieces.  These changes not only help offset the cost of using the more expensive 7075 material, but also allows for you, the customer, to easily replace lost, smaller pieces, if needed.

This design also replaces the M3 screws that hold the Y axis linear rail, with M6 set screws.  This offers better thread engagement and is less likely to strip even with the use of a shorter overall screw length.  The front set screw is pointed and will fit snugly into the center of the new square nut/spacer perfectly aligning it, while the nut thickness prevents any contact with the linear rail.  The lower set screw has a flat face so that it along with the washer/spacer, also will not contact or mar the linear railing.

Due to the unique design of these X carriages, the end stop bracket geometry changes slightly (closer to the linear rail) and a new end stop bracket is needed to reliably trigger when using these X carriages.  When you purchase these X carriages, we offer you the choice to add a newly designed full metal end stop bracket, for a discounted price of $5 (regular $15).  Alternatively you may 3D print a new end stop bracket for yourself.  The .stl file will be posted on Thingiverse and linked here, shortly.  (If this link is not active and you would like the .stl file now, please contact us using our contact page.) 

This full metal end stop bracket is universal and can be used with the stock, or any aftermarket X carriages.  This full metal end stop bracket has been designed to give you the option to mount it above a halo, or above or below the 1515 rails.

This full metal end stop bracket is made out of 7075 T6 aluminum and even though it is small and thin it is extremely stiff and strong. It has 2 M3 pass through holes for mounting the bracket to the printer and 2 M2 formed tapped holes for mounting the end stop switch itself to the bracket.  All needed screws are provided.
