These magnetic heated beds are designed for the 300ZL/T series of the RailCore II printers. Click here for Railcore II series info
These beds are milled from .250 (6.4mm) cast aluminum alloy tool plate and are designed to meet all specifications of the project RailCore II bed to produce a high quality build platform for the printer.
The front of the heated bed features a recessed thermistor channel and recessed attachment lugs. The edges are chamfered to produce a beautiful finishing touch to these magnetic heated beds.
We now offer two versions of this product to better meet customer needs. Both our new beds feature rectangular magnets and surpass our last version (round magnets) in lateral pull force strength. The new standard verison bed is 2x as strong as the round magnet bed where the new high strength version bed is 3x as strong! We originally moved away from the rectangular magnets, in our early beds, due to their limited supply. We have since found a new supplier and we are no longer limited by magent supply, yet unfortunately our new supplier has a slightly higher magnet cost. This means that we can only make these magnetic beds available to you in small quantities and they will be at a slightly higher cost than before.
The previous version of this magnetic bed featured round magnets and had approximpately 6-7 lbs of lateral pull force, when tested with a BondTak flexsheet.
Our new standard version of magnetic bed features 20 high temperature neodymium (rectangular) magnets that are recessed into custom milled pockets on the backside of the bed. These magnets provide a combined average lateral pull force of 10 pounds (when tested with the Buildtak FlexPlate). The magnets are good to 150C (302F) and are securely held in place with a specially formulated high temperature adhesive. The high density of magnets allow for greater variety of flex sheet (not included) sizes and print area locations.
Our high strength version of magnetic bed features 30 high temperature neodymium (rectangular) magnets that are recessed into custom milled pockets on the backside of the bed. These magnets provide a combined average lateral pull force of 16 pounds (when tested with the Buildtak FlexPlate). The magnets are good to 150C (302F) and are securely held in place with a specially formulated high temperature adhesive. The high density of magnets allow for greater variety of flex sheet (not included) sizes and print area locations.
There are various resources for flex sheet providers. We have tested and recommend the Buildtak FlexPlate 332mm X 340mm (Raise3D N2 size) item#BTP340x332. Please be aware flex sheets vary widely in magnetic strength due to the different sheet thicknesses and steel alloys used. In our testing we have seen a reduction in lateral pull force performance of 1/2 to 1/3 pull strength, with Wham Bam and various other, off brand flex sheets. We have tested our beds with the Buildtak brand and for best performance, we highly recommend, using it with our magnetic beds.
We take great care to provide the highest quality milled aluminum heated beds, but minor tooling marks or superficial surface marks may be present from time to time. We always strive to be sure the build surface is free of defects that will affect printing. To prolong the life of your bed, the urge you to never print directly on the aluminum surface to avoid damaging the bed surface and affect print quality. As with all magnetic heated beds, normal wear and tear to the surface of this bed will occur due to the placement and removal of the flex sheet. Although we do use tool plate aluminum and stringent quality control, please inspect your bed for defects and levelness prior to installing any accessories onto the bed. We are not responsible for accessories (heaters, thermistors, wasted filament, etc.). If you feel that there is an issue with your bed please feel free to contact us for assistance.
Please note:
The magnets will likely cause interference with the some inductive probes and with the metal tipped BLtouch bed leveling probe. For best results we suggest to use the plastic tipped BLtouch bed leveling probe and probing between the magnets.
WARNINGS:
The magnets used in this bed are very powerful. Please take care to remove all ferrous items in your work area when working with this bed. The magnets can cause a pinch hazard and can be detrimental to electronics and other sensitive items (cell phones, control boards, credit cards, etc.) This bed is not designed for items to be stuck to the back (magnet side) of the bed. We are not responsible for any damages.
