The halo is a large structural element that helps align and rigidize the idler pulley mounts, motor mounts, and printer frame. In keeping with the style of our other Railcore products, the halo is custom milled in-house, with a beautiful shiny face and sides, and chamfered edges.
This part replaces the idler pulley mounts and the motor mounts with a large, one piece structure. It has access holes to allow easy adjustment of the top 4 corner cubes and a large open center for easy access.
For an additional charge you may choose to have your halo powder coated. You may choose from satin white or satin black powder coating options. The satin finish is a nice blend of a mild shine and matte surface that provides a high resistance to fingerprinting and scratching. Please add the RAILCORE II - POWDER COATING item to your cart at the time of baseplate purchase.
We recommend having an assortment of M3 bolts/screws, in the 8mm - 16mm range, on hand to attach any accessories to the halo, as needed.
The 300ZL/T halo overall dimensions are approximately 592 x 468 mm (23 x 18 in).
We take great care to provide the highest quality milled aluminum parts, but minor tooling marks or superficial surface marks may be present from time to time.

Seriously, if you are going to spend $1,500+ to build one of the best printers in the world, you really should spend the extra $155 for the Halo. The structural integrity it adds to the most important part of the frame along with the automatic belt and stepper motor alignment makes it worth it all by itself.
This is - quite simply - awesome
The Halo arrived packaged well, and once installed both stiffened the top of the frame immensely but also made the action of the rails extremely quiet on the x axis. Also was a breeze to install.
